I have had a lot of questions about #bumpstyle. Every pregnancy is different. Words that I keep learning to be very true with number two. I felt like this time around, I took a pregnancy test and BOOM none of my clothes fit. Cue nothing looking good or being comfortable in anything in my closet. Also, for anyone who has been pregnant – shopping while pregnant is NOT fun.
Let me start with this, I love shopping; but I have a hard time spending money on maternity clothes that I can only wear during pregnancy. Don’t get me wrong though, you will have to buy some maternity pieces. For example, I have had to buy maternity jeans and shorts. I buy my regular brands because I like how they fit and look. Below I have some stores that I have been frequently shopping at as well as some styles and brands that have very bump friendly options without actually being maternity.
Stores
Mulberry & King – I LOVE this shop. I have been shopping at Mulberry & King for a while now (and before getting pregnant again). They have the best options for maxi and midi style dresses that are non-maternity but fit the bump perfectly. I suggest following them on Instagram to see when new dresses drop. I can honestly say I love the dresses that I have purchased from M&K not only because they are reasonably priced (and great quality) but because I can wear them post pregnancy. Click here to shop.
II Brunettes – This is another store I loved before getting pregnant again. They carry a ton of my favorite brands (Free People, Rails, Show Me Your MuMu to name a few). They also have a ton of cute dresses that are bump friendly but not maternity. You can shop II Brunettes on Instagram @iibrunettes or you can text Shoptwobrunettes@gmail.com.
Shopbop- I love Shopbop for a number of reasons. One they save my amazon payment information and everything ships quickly. Two they carry every brand you can think of. This is where I have been ordering my maternity jeans/ shorts. The brands I love are Paige, Joes, Rag & Bone. For maternity jeans or shorts, I have been ordering my regular size in pants (If you are a 29 order a 29, no need to size up). For pants I made sure to get a regular denim, a dark denim, and black and a white – just to cover all of my bases. If you feel like splurging on some maternity gear when you get on Shopbop search the brand “Hatch” they have some amazing maternity gear. Here is the link to Shopbop.
Lululemon- I have a Lululemon addiction. Good news the Align Pant has been my “go to” since I found out I was pregnant. The fabric is super soft and will grow with you. Not to mention the align comes in crops, pants and joggers ( I have all 3). Lulu also has great tops that you can wear during and after pregnancy. Shop Lululemon here.
Styles
As far as “pregnancy styles”, depending on your body type and how you are carrying what looks good and what you feel comfortable in is going to vary from person to person. For me, I barely have a torso so my stomach is round like a basketball already. For me (and for date night) I tend to gravitate to dresses that are form fitting to form fitting on top but flowy on the bottom. I need a dress with a shape or I will look like I am wearing a bed sheet. On the weekends I live in my Lululemon gear because I am chasing around a toddler in Florida heat. And for work I am lucky enough to be able to wear jeans if I want to, so I wear skinny jeans in either (White, Black or Denim) with form fitting tops, or tanks with light cardigans.
*For brands (not listed above) I have found that I tend to like the following: Tiare Hawaii (their are my favorite) Z Supply, Rails, Leith, Madewell, AFRM, Bardot and Splendid*
Hopefully this helps shed some light on “my maternity style”. If anyone has specific questions about where or what brand I am wearing feel free to drop me a comment and I will respond as soon as I can.
Happy Shopping!
