Hospital Bag Essentials – Round Two

img_7465It has taken me a long time to write this post and my bag is finally packed  (pretty sure this baby is coming any day now).  I was induced with Blake, so I felt like I had ample time to get everything together, and by everything I mean everything  I could google on what you should take to the hospital to have a baby.  This time around I just packed my bag (after my OB told me I should probably do that) and I packed it based on what I wish I had known the first time around.  Below is what I have in my bag, and what I have packed for Baby Kicia (number 2).

Annie’s Bag

Soft PJ’s – Two pairs of PJ’s from target.  I have linked some really soft ones up here. I packed one set which is a set of shorts and a  button down top, and one button down long sleeved night shirt.  Last time I didn’t use anything I packed I stayed in the gown and the sweet hospital underwear until we went home. This time, I am going to try and be more presentable. Click here for the PJ’s.

Nursing Bras – I packed 2. I prefer the soft type without the underwire.   I will say I am pretty busty so the ‘bralette’ type nursing bras typically don’t work for me. You can shop mine here.

Show Me Your MuMu Robe – I packed the soft stretchy one that came in my Fabfitfun Box.

Ugg Slippers – I am not a big sock person, and I know I won’t feel like trying to put socks on, so I am bringing my Ugg house  shoes.  I have linked them here.

Neutrogena Make Up Remover Wipes – In the event that I have make up on, I want to me be able to take off any left over eye shadow/mascara.  I bought the travel size of these at Target.

Bakuchiol Alternative to Retinol Serum – I love this stuff, you can use it morning and night.  You can shop it here.

Biossance Top Shelfies Kit – I got this honestly because the product specialist was in Sephora when I went to pick up a few things. It has a  travel size of their best selling items.  All organic and totally safe for pregnant and nursing moms. You can shop it here.

Madela Disposable Nursing Pads – The less glamorous side of having a baby. These are great and you can put them right in your bra and throw them away as needed. You can shop them here.

Bio Oil – I plan to keep applying this to my battle scars of being pregnant in the hospital and at home.  You can shop it here.

Laneige Lip Sleep Mask– I remember last time my lips felt so dry in the hospital so I threw this in my bag right away. You can shop it here.

Make-up – I packed the basics.  IT Cosmetics CC Cream, Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer, IT Cosmetics Translucent Powder, and Diorshow Mascara ( all linked).

Going Home Outfit – I would  say nothing tight.  I packed a pair of Shop Tallulah Joggers and a solid black nursing tank, with a V-Neck to throw over.  I would also recommend packing some comfy no underwire nursing bras.  If you want details about he ones I have, send me a note and  I will send you links to where  I found them.

* I also packed a soft blanket I picked up from target for $10 bucks because the hospital sheets are uncomfortable *

In the Baby’s Bag (Which is the Hunters Tote, size large in  Camo from LL Bean)

Gerber Sleeper 3 Pack – I got these as a gift, but I found them at target (size 0-3 months). I went ahead and washed them in Dreft.  These are great because they are the zip up sleepers.  The first time around we found anything that buttoned really annoying, so all hail zippers. You can shop them here.

Onesies – I packed 3 in various sizes depending on how big of a baby number 2 is.

Swaddles – Last time, the most frustrating thing was trying to use the hospital blanket to swaddle Blake (neither of us could  figure it out).  This time we are heading in prepared with two different swaddles.  My personal favorite (tried and true) is the Halo Sleepsack Swaddle.  I love this swaddle because you put the bay in, zip it up and then there is velcro for the babies arms. You can shop it here.  The other  swaddle I packed is the Sleepea 5 Second Swaddle.  Full disclosure I have never used this swaddle but I have read some amazing reviews.  You can shop it here.

Baby Shusher – This is another thing I have never used but it is a portable sound machine that actually makes a shushing sound.  You can shop it here.

Boppy Pillow– I WISH I had taken this to the hospital last time. If you are planning on breastfeeding or just holding the baby this pillow is a must.  You can shop it here.

Baby Blanket – I didn’t buy a new one ( we have so many baby blankets) We are taking  one that was handmade by my mother in law.

Milk Snob Cover – This can be used as a nursing cover or a car-seat cover or both. I am packing it for both. You can shop them here.

Burp Cloths – You can grab packs of these at target. I am bringing a few from Sugar Snap Pea.

*Also in the baby bag are Mike’s clothes.  He packed underwear, a few t-shirts and a couple pairs of shorts*

Miscellaneous Items

  • Clorox Wipes (Travel Size) I am paranoid and still have these everywhere.
  • Phone Charger with extra long cord.
  • Shampoo (if you plan on showering, which I do).
  • Snacks (just in case  you have a baby at a weird time of day).
  • Gatorade because I just love it.
  • Nipple Balm ( I packed Honest Company brand but can’t seem to find it anymore online).
  • Deodorant (I grabbed a travel size of Dove)
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste
  • Prenatals

I am sure there are items that I am forgetting but right now this is all we have packed.  Again, I based everything on what I either loved last time or what I learned I needed. You don’t need to pack diapers (the hospital has so many diapers and wipes).  And there is absolutely no shame in leaving the hospital in the awesome mesh undies they give you.

Wish us luck on Kicia Baby Watch!
